See the tier method and full tableWhat Tepig's stats tell you
Tepig has 99 HP, 1.05× attack and 97 speed. It has more HP than Scorbunny or Litten, but it is not the highest-HP fire starter across the full directory: Fuecoco has 100. Tepig is the slowest member of the six-partner S tier.
The equal-weight formula places Tepig in S because its HP contribution offsets some of its speed deficit. This does not demonstrate that it can absorb a particular number of hits. Incoming attacks and run upgrades are outside the three-stat score.
Starting move: Ember
Tepig starts with Ember, the same fire projectile used by Scorbunny and Litten. It targets the nearest enemy and applies burn. Sharing a starting move makes their HP, attack and speed tradeoffs easier to compare without assuming different first-move behavior.
Ember's move evolution is Fire Blast in the pinned revision. Raise Ember to level 5 and take an attack upgrade during the run to make the gold evolution card eligible. HP alone does not satisfy that attack-upgrade requirement, and eligibility is not an automatic evolution.
Tepig compared with faster fire starters
Scorbunny has 92 HP, 1.09× attack and 107 speed. Tepig gains 7 HP but loses 10 speed points and 0.04 attack multiplier. Litten has 90 HP, 1.06× attack and 107 speed, so Tepig gains 9 HP while losing the same 10 speed points.
Fuecoco is a closer numerical neighbor: 100 HP, 1.05× attack and 93 speed. Tepig has 1 less HP, identical attack and 4 more speed. These are snapshot comparisons, not proof that either partner produces better completed runs.
Finding Tepig in the roster
Tepig is the generation 5 fire starter #498 in the pinned Pokédex, with Ember assigned by the starter roster. This page describes that starting configuration. It does not establish an Emboar evolution route, unlock schedule or gacha odds.
Common questions about Tepig
Does Tepig have the most HP of the fire starters?
No. Tepig has 99 HP; Fuecoco has 100. Tepig does have more HP than Scorbunny and Litten in this first batch.
Why is Tepig S tier with only 97 speed?
The formula gives HP, attack and speed equal weight. Tepig's HP helps its composite score despite its lower speed; the tier is not a tested gameplay ranking.
Should Tepig take only HP upgrades?
That recommendation is not supported by the base-stat table. In particular, Ember's move-evolution prerequisite is an attack upgrade taken during the run, alongside level 5 Ember.
